Study objectives

After completing studies in this Master's programme, you will obtain sufficient scientific and technological knowledge for a career in chemical and process engineering in different fields of process industry.

A graduate specialised in Chemical Engineering will:

  • have a solid theoretical background in core areas of chemical engineering,
  • have strong engineering analysis and problem solving skills,
  • have practical engineering skills, such as the ability to make approximations and decisions under uncertainty,
  • have the courage to create innovations and new technical solutions,
  • possess project work and communication skills needed in the modern working environment.

During your studies, you will be able to create new sustainable solutions as a response to major global challenges. You will learn how to create, design, develop and promote innovations and new technology and to work in an international team.

As a graduate, you will possess a unique set of skills for creating sustainable, environmentally friendly chemical processes and products.

A graduate specialised in Water Treatment will:

  • have a comprehensive understanding of the BAT and future water treatment technologies, covering advanced oxidation and various separation methods,
  • be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of process and environmental analytics and monitoring,
  • have adopted the principles of sustainability in water treatment,
  • be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of relevant theories and techniques, problem-solving skills, and an ability to independently use knowledge, equipment and tools for the design and development of practical water treatment applications,
  • be able to work with others in task-orientated groups, participating and interacting in the group in a productive manner,
  • be able to logically think through a problem and solve it.

During your studies, you will learn how waters are purified not only efficiently but also in a sustainable and economical manner. You will obtain knowledge and skills that can be used to solve water-related challenges in the future.

You will become a competent professional in the rapidly developing, multidisciplinary area of water and the environment, and you will be eligible to continue your studies in doctoral programmes.

Study contents

Chemical engineering is a highly interdisciplinary field concerned with diverse materials and processes.

In this programme, you may choose from two independent modules: Chemical and Process Engineering or Water Treatment.

The duration of the programme is two years. The increasing share of modern e-learning methods in our teaching enables you to carry out the second year of Water Treatment studies as flexible distance learning independent of place or time.

The programme covers many scientific and technological areas essential for human well-being, a clean environment and the sustainable use of natural resources.
