Study objectives

Availability and security of electricity supply are global concerns on the continuing rise of energy production and consumption. More than ever before, electrical energy is the answer to the urgent energy challenges. Electrical energy is the crucial driver of efficiency and success in the energy transition towards a sustainable, truly industrial and consumer-oriented economy.

After completing the Master's programme, you will have acquired comprehensive knowledge in electrical engineering, specifically in areas of industrial electronics and solar economy.

Specifically, you will acquire expertise in the domain of industrial electronics and be able to

  • analyse and design electrical motors and drives,
  • analyse and design power electronics systems,
  • analyse and design control algorithms for electrical systems,
  • implement control and signal processing algorithms in embedded electronics,            
  • manage simulation software for system dynamics and electromagnetic fields.

Alternatively, you will acquire expertise in the domain of solar economy and be able to

  • identify sustainable solutions providing long-term benefits,
  • propose renewable-based energy system optimisations,
  • design smart grids concepts,
  • evaluate storage and flexibility concepts for renewables,
  • calculate the economic benefits of renewable system designs,
  • lead in societal discussions for 100% renewable energy.

 

Study contents

Electrical engineering is the largest and most diverse technological field in the world. Studies in the Master's Programme in Electrical Engineering are wide-ranging and relevant to industry.

You will learn about the conversion, use and transmission of electric energy, the control of electric systems and the electric market.

You will acquire extensive knowledge of how the industry works, as well engineering skills and technological knowledge needed to design, assess and improve electrical and electronic systems. You will also develop the knowledge, skills and abilities that will facilitate intellectual, creative, responsive and professional growth, and lifelong learning for continuous improvement.

As well as having technical knowledge, electrical engineers need to be able to manage different projects. Here you will also be able to develop team leadership and management skills, which will be of great value for your future career.
