LL.M in Law and Finance
The Masters programme in Law and Finance equips both law and finance specialists with knowledge regarding the close and often intertwined relationship between the two disciplines. It facilitates understanding of the wide array of multidisciplinary issues at hand and delivers in-depth knowledge of the interrelation of the legal and economic aspects of firms and markets operating in the European Union and beyond.
The Masters programme in Law and Finance can be undertaken as a one or two year academic programme depending on prior qualifications.
The one year Masters programme consists of 60 ECTS of theoretical study with an interaction between law and finance disciplines emphasised within each course track with 30 ECTS devoted to a thesis. The two year academic Masters programme consists of 120 ECTS of theoretical study of which 30 ECTS are devoted to a thesis.
In the one year programme, students have to complete six mandatory courses and two optional course chosen from other Masters streams. For the two year programme, students have to complete 20 substantive courses, in addition to the mandatory courses, and defend their Masters’ thesis at the end of the programme. These courses cover areas such as commercial law, private law, international law, economics and finance as well as policy and regulation.
In addition to the selected mandatory courses, all students have to complete a law foundation courses as well as a course in legal research.
Maisterin koulutuksen tavoitteena on antaa niin laki- kuin finanssialan asiantuntijoille tietämystä lain ja finanssialan yhtymäkohdista. Opinnot helpottavat monitieteisten kysymysten ymmärtämistä sekä tarjoavat tietämystä EU:n alueella ja sen ulkopuolella toimivien yritysten sekä markkinoiden lainsäädäntö- ja talousnäkökohtien keskinäisestä suhteesta.
Yksivuotisessa tutkinto-ohjelmassa opiskelijat suorittavat kuusi pakollista kurssia ja kaksi valinnaista kurssia, jotka valitaan toisista suuntauksista. Kaksivuotisessa koulutuksessa opiskelijat suorittavat 20 itsenäistä kurssia, pakollisten kurssien ja opinnäytetyön lisäksi. Kursseilla käsitellään muun muassa kaupallista lakia, yksityisoikeutta, kansainvälistä lakia, taloustiedettä, rahoitusta sekä politiikkaa ja säädöksiä.

Law and Finance (LL.M) Masters programme is available to individuals with bachelor or masters degree in law, economics, finance, management or related fields, obtained in at least three years (120 KP = 180 ECTS) for 2 year programme or four years long studies (160 KP = 240 ECTS) for 1 year programme; second level professional higher education, professional bachelor or masters’ degree in law, economics, finance, management or related fields.
English language proficiency: IELTS 6+, TOEFL IBT 80+ or TOEFL paper based test 550+.
