Smart Energy, Master of Science (Technology) (2 years)

The programme consists of three blocks: 1) Smart and Flexible Energy Systems 2) Digitalisation 3) Business Studies. The programme provides students good analytical skills and wide expertise about key smart energy systems enabling technologies (e.g. battery energy storages, microgrids, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, 5G, hybrid AC/DC systems with power electronics), future market and business models.

The courses consist of lectures, teamwork assignments, projects, presentations and final exams. Master’s degree students are expected to complete courses worth approximately 30 ECTS credits each semester, as an active full time student. The programme cannot be completed as distance learning.

Objectives

The Master’s Programme in Smart Energy offers students the latest knowledge in ongoing energy transitions and excellent capabilities to renew the industry and create future-proof solutions for sustainable and smart energy systems.

By completing the programme, you will be able to:

• plan, research and develop new intelligent solutions for the electrical and energy systems of the future e.g. by utilizing different simulation tools
• lead and manage different production, product development and planning projects in the field of electrical engineering and energy technology
• assess and compare different ways of energy production from the technical and economical point of view and compare different alternatives in energy production
• use existing sources of information critically and produce new knowledge in electrical engineering and energy technology

In addition, the programme prepares students for research work and provides eligibility for further studies in the field of electrical engineering and electrical energy engineering.
